Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Program

The Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Program is sponsored by the American Kennel Club (AKC) and is open to all dogs, mixed breeds as well as purebreds.  Goals of the CGC Program are to (1) teach responsible dog ownership to owners and (2) provide basic training and good manners to dogs.  A key component of the CGC Program is the 10-step CGC Test.

  •  The cost to take the test is $5.00.
  •  Use of prong or halter-type collars, clickers, or treats is not permitted during the test.
  •  Owners of dogs that pass may send to AKC for a certificate that is suitable for framing.

IPOC conducts the CGC Test as an adjunct to its obedience classes at IPOC's training center.  Tests are held approximately every eight weeks, in conjunction with class graduation.  For test dates and more information, please contact Linda.  You may also go the AKC web site at www.AKC.org  for a full description of each element of the test.
